Welcome To The Knitting Goddess
The Knitting Goddess
The Knitting Goddess is an independent dyer of British knitting yarns, producing hand dyed yarns from British wool. Our yarns are dyed in small batches, which means that every skein is unique and unrepeatable - although if you fall in love with one of our colourways but need more skeins than we have listed, please get in touch and we'll do our best to help.
The Knitting Goddess is run by me (Joy) and my tolerant other half (Bobbie). I dye yarn and fibre, screen print, write patterns, make beads and stitch markers so I get to play with a lot of different crafts and call it work. Bobbie is responsible for designing prints, screen printing, winding mini skeins and packing up all of the parcels. You can find out more here.
British Yarns
There is something utterly satisfying about using yarns when you know exactly where the wool came from from, where it was processed and where it was spun. We'll never just describe a yarn as British and hope that you'll assume it's from the UK. If it's from a British territory like the Falkland Islands this will be stated in the description. That means that you're completely clear about what you're buying.
Sock Yarns
If you've been bitten by the sock knitting bug, you'll find lots to tempt you here. Our hard working sock yarn is 75% superwash British wool and 25% nylon, so you can be confident that your hard work will wear well. As well as a rainbow (and more) of semi solid colours, there are lots of multi colours for especially colourful feet. The wool in this blend is sourced from UK flocks. It's processed in the UK and spun in Yorkshire. For something extra specially we have Britsock - a custom spun blend of British wools (British Falkland Polwarth, UK Wensleydale), alpaca and nylon.
4ply Yarns
Perfect for almost everything, our range of 4 ply yarns includes blends with merino and silk, pure British wool and more. So if you're looking for an extra special yarn for socks or the softness essential for a perfect scarf one of our yarns will be just right for the job.
Double Knit and Chunky Yarn
Thicker yarns make for quicker knitting, and extra warmth. With fantastic British Falkland and UK grown yarns to choose from you might have to decide that several projects are in order.
Yarn Clubs
If you like the excitement of regular parcels with mysterious contents then yarn club is for you. There's a selection of yarns to choose from - so this isn't just for the sock knitters amongst you.
Other Treats for Knitters
As well as lots of hand dyed yarns we also sell patterns, stitch markers, badges and bags - perfect for you or for a gift.
Ravelry
There's a group dedicated to all things Knitting Goddess on Ravelry - Knitting Goddesses (and Gods). The members are a wonderfully friendly and chatty crowd, and it's a great place to see lots of the yarns knitted up.
Customer Service
At The Knitting Goddess we know that we'd be nothing without our customers. We're committed to providing excellent service and quick dispatch of orders. Of course we love to get positive feedback, but it's even more important to us to know if you think we've let you down in any way so we can sort things out.
There's more information in our Terms and Conditions page about posting times, and what we'll do if a parcel doesn't arrive or isn't what you wanted.
Contacting Us
All of our contact details are on the contact us page. The contact phone number for us is my mobile number, simply because there isn't a landline at the workshop. As I'm often wrangling wet wool I can't always answer the phone when it rings, but all messages will be returned.
