At The Knitting Goddess we get lots of request for yarn support. We’re always happy to look at these.
There are several things which help us say yes.
- have a swatch or sketch of your design
- have an idea of timescale, especially if your design is seasonal. We know that life gets in the way of the best plans, but a provisional date is good.
- have tech editing organised
- tell us how to find you on social media
We’ve worked with experienced designers and those planning their first project, so a back catalogue of published designs isn’t a necessity. It’s lovely to support new designers and see what happens.
We’re especially keen to provide yarn support for people who feel marginalised by the knitting industry. Exclusion happens for many reasons including colour, race, gender, sexuality, religion, age, ability, size and financial situation. We’d like to try and tip that balance a little.
Sometimes we need to say no. It doesn’t mean your design isn’t wonderful or that we don’t think it will be a success. It doesn’t mean we never want to work with you. It just says that there’s a limit to the yarn support we can offer.
Please get in touch via the contact us page.
From 1st March 2021 we'll no longer provide yarn support for designs which will only be available through Ravelry. Design changes to the site mean it's no longer accessible to many people.
We exhibit at a couple of shows during the year and typically it's busy. We like to be able to focus our attention on customers and offer any help they need to choose their next yarn and project. This means that we don't have time to consider design proposals properly and give them the attention they deserves. It's not the ideal place to have a discussion about yarn support, so ask us at a show and we'll say no.
